Along with Angkor Wat, you may wish to also visit Banteay Srei and Beng Mealea whilst you are in Cambodia. Banteay Srei or Banteay Srey is known as ‘The Lady Temple’ because the carvings are so beautifully detailed, delicate and ornate. It’s really like a lady’s hand has carved it. Then drive further to the remote area of Siem Reap to explore the 11th-century ruins emerging from the tangled overgrowth of Cambodian jungle at Beng Mealea.

In the morning, our Cambodia Travel’s tour guide will pick you up in Siem Reap then drive 25 kilometers to the countryside to see the “gem” of the Angkor area: Banteay Srei Temple. This is also known as “Citadel of the Women”, remains the best preserved temple in Cambodia. The temple is unique in that it is constructed of pink sandstone, which is seen nowhere else in Angkor. It displays some of the finest examples of classical Khmer Art as this small temple is noted for its truly remarkable fine bas-reliefs.
Next, head further into the countryside to Beng Mealea – dubbed as the “Indiana Jones Temple” due to the wilderness that has taken over. Largely swallowed by tree roots & other foliage and not overly visited due to its remote location, the temple gives off an adventurous ‘lost temple’ vibe as you explore the piles of stones from its towers and courtyards, hidden amidst the thriving bush. Trek through the jungle and discover this harmonious blend of nature and architecture. Climb over massive vines and through moss-covered arches to explore the temple’s carvings and inner chambers.
After concluding the Beng Mealea tour, head back towards Siem Reap, arriving in the late afternoon.
