A perfect journey through the ancient and modern Cambodia during 11 days exploring capital city of Phnom Penh to the wonders of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Angkor Complex, some of the most iconic places around Siem Reap as well as getting a closer look into the countryside of tranquil Battambang. The trip includes couple of relaxing days on the white sand beaches in Koh Rong Samloem before returning to Phnom Penh for departure.

Itinerary

Day 1Phnom Penh Arrival

Welcome to Phnom Penh, the recent capital of the Khmer Kingdom. Upon your arrival at Phnom Penh’s international airport, you will be greeted by our local tour guide and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of day at your leisure to recover from the jetlag or explore the city on your own.

Day 2Phnom Penh City Tour

After enjoying breakfast at hotel, join us on a full day sightseeing tour that covers all the key attractions. Start with the Royal Palace which is regarded as the nation symbol and home where the royal family live. Next, move to the National Museum – an introduction deeper into ancient Khmer art and civilization. Continue to the top of Wat Phnom and have your fortune told.

In the afternoon, focus on the national recent history by a tour to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, which documents atrocities committed by the Khmer Rouge in the 1970s – a chilling window into Cambodia’s violent past. Finally, try out your bargaining skill at Phnom Penh’s airy Central Market.
Transfer back to the hotel where you will spend the rest of day on your own leisure.

Day 3Phnom Penh - Kampong Chhnang - Battambang

Today we travel by car to Battambang, Cambodia’s second largest city. Get a taste for Cambodia’s rural life and stop en route at Kompong Chhnang to visit the floating village in Kompong Luong. We arrive in Battambang in the late afternoon.

End of the day trip by visiting Phnom Sampov – an important religious site known throughout all Cambodia. During the Khmer Rouge period the mountain was used as a place to kill “enemies” of the regime and in what are known as the “killing caves” there is a memorial to these victims. Every evening at nightfall, thousands of bats make their way out of caves in the hillside to feed before returning at dawn.

Return to your hotel to relax at your own leisure.

Day 4Battambang Sightseeing - Drive to Siem Reape

Spend the day exploring Battambang and its surrounding countryside. Start the morning with the visit to Wat Kor Village with a cluster of Khmer heritage houses that the village is known for. Built of now-rare hardwoods almost a century ago and surrounded by orchard gardens, they have wide verandahs and exude the ambience of another era.

Take a slow 30-minute ride on the Bamboo Train before going to town center and enjoy a walking tour through the city’s bustling boulevards lined with quaint French colonial buildings and central market and end up with lunch time in town.

Then drive 13km to north of Battambang to visit Wat Ek Phnom – an ancient Hindu temple that was built in the 11th century during the Angkor Wat era by King Suryavarman II. In front of the ruins of Wat Ek Phnom stands the multi-coloured, modern-day pagoda of Wat Ek Phnom with a majestic white-stoned Buddha, surrounded by 18 Bodhi trees.

Later of the day, spend around 3 hours driving toward Siem Reap. Pass by Cambodia’s charming countryside, past stretches of rice paddies and exotic hamlets. Arrive at Siem Reap in late afternoon and check in at the hotel.

Day 5Siem Reap - Angkor Temples - Sunset at Phnom Bakheng

Breakfast at hotel followed by an exploration of Angkor Thom, first start with its South gate which is famous for its majestic doors and artifacts. Then, go further to the heart of Angkor Thom where you will visit the monumental temple of Bayon facing the tropical forest and Baphuon and Phimeanakas mountains, elephant terrace and Terrect of the Leper King, Takeo “Jewel of Crystal” is dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva and was erected at the end of the 10th century. Continue to Ta Prohm temple which is a wonderful combination of human genius and natural beauty. Giant trees have grown there for centuries.

In the afternoon, visit Angkor Wat, the 7th World Heritage Wonder. Its founder was Suryavarman II who reigned Cambodia from 1113 to 1152 and built the five towers in the 12th century and dedicated them to the Hindu God Vishnu. The plan of the pyramidal conception of the temple combined with spaces, alleys, ditches is an ancient masterpiece of architectural design and construction. After exploring the astonishing Angkor Wat with your guide, it will be time to head to Bakheng Mountain to watch the sunset. From a height of 65 meters at the top of the hill, you will witness the most spectacular views of the temple complex against the backdrop of changing colors in the evening sky.

Day 6Siem Reap Cooking Class - Tonle Sap Lake

This morning, join us on a half day cooking class to discover the secrets of authentic Khmer cuisine. Begin with a guided walk in the local wet market where you will learn about Cambodian vegetables, herbs, and other ingredients before returning to the classroom for a hands-on culinary experience.

Sample your efforts then transfer to Tonle Sap where you will board a traditional wooden boat ride visiting the floating villages. Tonle Sap is the largest permanent fresh-water lake in South Asia and flows into Tonle Sap River, joining the Mekong in Phnom Penh.

On the way back to your hotel, stop at one of the city’s lively open markets, Psar Chass, called the “Old Market”, where you can discover more about the local life!

Day 7Siem Reap - Fly to Sihanoukville - Speedboat to Koh Rong Samloem

After breakfast at hotel, our driver will take you to Siem Reap Airport for your short domestic flight to Sihanoukville. Upon your arrival, the driver will wait you at the airport and transfer to the pier where you catch the speedboat to Koh Rong Samloem. Soak up the sun as you lounge on the beach or enjoy swimming and snorkeling in the warm waters of the Gulf of Thailand.

Day 8 Koh Rong Samloem - Free Day

You can just enjoy yourself at the beautiful beach or perhaps, you may directly contact with the hotel for the arrangement of the following activities (with surcharges):
–    Snorkeling
–    Visit fishing village in M’Pei Bay
–    Trekking through the jungle to Lazy beach/Sunset beach
–    Swimming with plankton
–    BBQ dinner on the beach

Day 9Koh Rong Samloem - Free Day

You will have one more day free to explore this beautiful island.

Day 10Koh Rong Samloem - Speedboat to Sihanoukville - Drive to Phnom Penh

Have breakfast at hotel then transfer by the speedboat back to main land where you will meet your driver at the dock for 5 hour transfer to Phnom Penh.
Enjoy your last night at our bustling capital.

Day 11Phnom Penh Departure

After a breakfast at the hotel, you are free for shopping or relaxing until our driver picks up and take you to the airport for departure.
